The selection of practice management software is the fifth, and most significant/emotional step,
in the Solutions Solves Practice Management Methodology. When this step is completed, the organization will realize the value and benefits
of the previous four steps.
Solutions has developed an evaluation/ selection process that is deliberate and sequential. The logical progression of events
helps those involved to have a clear understanding of the information provided to them by various vendors. The decision making
process is supported by evaluation forms that are designed to maintain the volume of information in a clear and orderly format.
The result is that conclusions and final decisions are based on factual information. The Step Five process includes the
following:
- Vendors respond to the Detailed Software Capabilities document
- 3 or 4 vendors are selected as the finalists
- Finalist vendors demo
their software, with the organization using the responses from the
Detailed Software Capabilities document to create the demo script
- Participants rate the vendors during the demos and select a preferred
finalist vendor based upon the criteria established with the rating forms
- Complete the finalist vendor analysis and select a vendor of choice
- Begin contract negotiations
Solutions has developed a comprehensive, carefully planned process, for the evaluation and
selection of practice management software. The Detailed Software Capabilities document, in
conjunction with the vendor interviews/demos, is effective because it:
- is systematic.
- removes or controls vendor sales hype.
- provides a specific evaluation process
that is disciplined, unemotional, and under
the organizations control at all times.
- facilitates an easy and factual comparison between vendors.
- makes the entire practice management software evaluation
and vendor selection process more objective, less confusing,
and less time-consuming.
